What emotional maturity means
Emotional maturity is how you act when you're tested.
Everyone has reactive habits that show up under pressure. One leader gets defensive when a decision is challenged in a meeting. Another puts off a hard conversation for months.
Emotional intelligence helps people understand what they feel. Emotional maturity is what they do with it in that moment. SHiFT trains leaders to notice the reaction as it starts and choose a better response.
Your charter puts the mission in writing. Your leaders’ daily choices decide whether it holds.
Why it matters for mission-driven companies
Every big change puts pressure on the mission.
“We're all one acquisition, one IPO, one board meeting away from watching something we love turn into something we hate.”
Rapid growth, a new CEO, an acquisition, a tough board vote. Each one tests whether leaders keep choosing the mission when it costs something. Training gives them the habits to do it.
What this means for B Corps and Public Benefit Corporations →How the Flourishing Quarter works
13 weeks of live training, then three months to make it stick.
One cohort of your leaders, built for 18 with room for up to 24, mixed across functions and levels. Fully virtual.
Before Week 1
Set up and baseline
We build coaching groups of six from your org chart. Each leader and two colleagues complete a baseline assessment.
Weeks 1 to 13
Weekly live training
A 90-minute session with Dr. Isabell Springer and Joella Walker, plus a 30-minute coaching group led by a licensed therapist and a two-minute daily practice. Leaders reassess at Week 7 and Week 13.
Months 4 to 6
Integration
You get a completion report two weeks after Week 13. Coaching groups keep meeting monthly, and leaders work through the Limiting Beliefs MasterSession and workbook.
Month 6
Measured results
Leaders and their colleagues complete a final assessment. Your results review shows what changed and whether it held.
What leaders learn
A shared method for catching a reaction and choosing a better response.
Every leader in the cohort learns the same tools, so your team gets a common language for hard moments.
Awareness
The Emotional Maturity Scale illustrates five levels of emotional maturity, while the Measure assesses nine capacities. Together with training and reflection, these tools help people recognize personal patterns and opportunities for growth.
Practice
Catch it. Call it. Choose it. Own it.
Practice recognizing reactions in real time, making more intentional choices, and returning to Level 5 when challenges arise.
Development
Build emotional maturity through guided training, reflection, and real-world application across nine capacities. Strengthen the ability to respond with greater awareness, integrity, and choice.
Impact
Stronger leaders. Healthier teams. More resilient organizations.
We track growth in emotional maturity over time, helping organizations strengthen the human capacity to stay true to their mission.
Built for the leaders you're investing in.
Good leaders still react under pressure. The training helps them notice it sooner and recover faster.
When a leader can hear pushback without getting defensive and own a mistake quickly, people raise concerns earlier. Problems surface while they’re still small. It isn’t therapy, remediation or a performance review.
The SHiFT Emotional Maturity Scale
The Emotional Maturity Scale illustrates five levels of emotional maturity. We move between these levels, often without realizing it. Learning to recognize where we are helps us become more aware of the personal patterns that influence how we respond.
